FCA in Guatemala

FCA IN GUATEMALA

We received a visit from the director of FCA International back in 2013, at a conference that was taking place in Guatemala City.

After that the Latin American director of FCA visited Guatemala to be a part of the one of the first bible studies held with athletes in Guatemala City. 

Two years later, the ministry was registered legally with the name of Fellowship of Christian Athletes Guatemala. After that series of events and by the grace of God, the chaplaincy program was launched in professional teams. Through the relationships we had built with athletes and coaches, we were able to have a spiritual presence in the locker room, teaching and empowering the athletes to walk in relationship with God. 

After a time of intentional prayer and seeking the direction of God, the first board of directors was created in 2017, to lead and oversee the direction of our organization. 


GUATEMALA MISSIONS

Four new staff members joined the team on 2018, with the intent of developing sports academies. We saw the need for these academies based on social context in our country. The hope for these academies is that they aide in providing crime prevention, sports training, and improvement in personal and spiritual life. In March of the same year, the first soccer academy was launched in alliance with the AMG Guatemala ministry.

After witnessing the good fruit being bore as a result of God’s work in this academy, we launched three more academies, including a partnership with Casa Bernabé, a local orphanage that has many young athletes that seek to develop their skills and look forward to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus.
Ultimately FCA Guatemala is reaching 550 children in high risk zones in Guatemala City and fulfilling our mission of sharing and  teaching the word of God through sport.
